Random Password Generator: Create Strong, Secure Passwords

Create strong passwords up to 64 characters, generated securely in your browser.

Quick answer

Choose a length and the character types you want, then generate and copy. Longer passwords are generally stronger, so aim for at least 16 characters where a site allows it. Passwords are created on your device and aren't sent to us. Use a different password for each account, and store them in a password manager.

Strength: Very strong (~101 bits of entropy)

Choose a length and the character types you want, then press Generate. Passwords are created on your device with the Web Crypto API and are never sent anywhere or stored. For most accounts, 16 or more characters with all four character types is a strong choice. Pair it with a password manager so you never have to remember it.

What makes a password strong

Length matters most. Every extra character multiplies the number of guesses an attacker needs. A random 16-character password using upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols has roughly 100 bits of entropy, far beyond what can be brute-forced. Randomness matters too. Human-made passwords follow patterns (names, dates, "Password1!") that cracking tools try first. A generator avoids those patterns.

Good password habits

Use a different password for every account, so one leak cannot unlock the others. Store them in a password manager. Turn on two-factor authentication for email, banking and social media. Change a password immediately if a service tells you it was involved in a breach.

About the "look-alike" option

By default the generator skips characters that are easy to confuse, such as l, I, 1, O and 0. That makes passwords easier to read or type from another screen. Enable "Allow look-alikes" if you want the largest possible character set.

Frequently asked questions

Is this password generator safe to use?

Yes. Passwords are generated locally in your browser with a cryptographically secure random source. They are never transmitted or saved by NameForgeHub.

How long should my password be?

At least 12 characters, and 16 or more for important accounts such as email and banking.

Should I include symbols?

Yes, if the site allows them. Symbols increase the number of possible characters, which makes the password harder to guess. Length is still the biggest factor.

How do I remember a random password?

You should not need to. Save it in a reputable password manager, which can also fill it in for you.
